We’re always looking for interior designing inspiration. Everyone has their own unique style, and you can explore a lot of different options before you find the interior design style that fits you and your home. At the same time, it can be helpful to keep design trends in mind as you begin redecorating a room. With every new year comes new design trends, and now that we’re almost halfway through 2018, we want to share with you a few of our favorite home decor trends of the year.
There are few things as elegant and beautiful as dark wood. You can choose to incorporate dark wood into your home decor in so many different ways. Furniture is one of the best ways to do this. It’s less permanent than adding a dark shiplap wall in your sitting room, and you can change your furniture as your tastes and the trends change, much easier than you could change something as permanent as a wall.
Deep pigmented colors
If you were looking at pastels for the walls of your home, think again! This year, it’s all about the deep and rich colors. Don’t go crazy and paint your entire bedroom an emerald green, though. These deep colors are best when used in moderation, to accent the rest of an already established room. Some of our favorite colors this year include violet, navy, emerald, and burnt orange. Paint a small accent wall, or give a favorite piece of furniture a new life with a new color.
Texture is a very important part of your interior design! Furniture with a natural or homemade feel is in this season, so make sure you take advantage of that. Rattan and wicker are the stars of the show, so don’t be afraid to show them off. Whether this is through furniture, or accents on your coffee table, make sure you play with as many beautiful textures as you can. Another fabulous texture we’re loving? Macrame.
Love plants, but chronically bad at keeping them alive? A tropical print is the perfect solution to this predicament. Mix lush green prints into your home. These prints are stark against colors such as charcoal grey, and can add to even rooms made up of whites and light neutrals. Don’t be afraid of this print! Large scale leaf prints, exotic birds, and safari wildlife are perfect prints to keep an eye out for this year.
