Check the outlets

While a home inspection will check the home’s electrical wiring and make sure that there isn’t a fire hazard or anything like that, you also want to make sure that the wiring is easily usable and accessible throughout the home. Specifically, you want to check the outlets throughout the home, to make sure that power is running to each of them. To do this, take your phone charger to the home and plug your phone in on each of the outlets, so that you know if any of them are faulty.

Make sure appliances work

Most homes come with some or all of the appliances on the inside. Things like refrigerators and washing and drying machines are usually bought to fit within a specific area within the home, and so it would be silly to take these with us everytime we moved somewhere else. For this reason, part of the deal of buying a new home is to purchase the appliances with it. Because of this, you want to make sure that each of these appliances is in working order, and doesn’t need to be fixed or repaired, especially if you are paying for it on the bottom line.

Look for leaky faucets

Leaky faucets might seem like no big deal to most homeowners, but you should actually take great care to notice if there are any small leaks in the plumbing. A leaky faucet may be wasting up to over 2000 gallons of water every year. If you have multiple leaky faucets then that adds up to, well, you get the idea. On top of this, small plumbing issues can often multiply to larger plumbing problems, which increases the chances that you might end up having a flood, at some point, in your new home.
