We all have a few things we’d change in our home, if given the chance. Maybe replacing the flooring, adding roman shades to all of the windows in your kitchen, or completely gutting and rebuilding your guest bathroom. Whatever remodeling project you’ve been dreaming about, but left on the back burner. So, when is the best time to remodel? Honestly, the best time to remodel your home is when you’re able to. But there are definitely factors that can contribute to certain aspects of your remodel being more or less expensive depending on the time of year. Whether or not there is ever a perfectly ideal time to remodel, we aren’t sure! But here are our tips.

Spring

As you can imagine, from around April until June is the busiest time of year for remodeling and home improvement projects. You’ll probably pay the most for any project you have to outsource during this time period than any other time of the year. However, spring time is ideal for projects like a deck, patio, or outdoor kitchen. Anything where the ground will need to be dug up, since the ground will be softer during the spring and easier to work with.

Summer

From July until September, you’ll want to projects that are inside, for the most part. Things like kitchen and bathroom remodels. However, roofing projects may be done in the summer as well, because the materials require a certain temperature in order to seal properly.

Fall

A lot of homeowners want their remodels done during the fall, before the holidays. Despite this deadline, this is actually one of the best seasons to work, between October and December. Early fall is ideal for projects outside that you didn’t finish or do during the hotter months. This is also going to be the cheapest time of year to have your home remodeled, since work is slower for builders and contractors.

Winter

From January until the beginning of the spring, you can start building any additions to your home! Again, during these months that are the coldest, building and working are going to be less expensive to outsource than during the warmer seasons of the year. It’s also a great time of year for any projects that require laying concrete. Frozen ground is easier to work with than muddy ground and humid weather, when it comes to things like concrete.
