When it comes to your decor and design in your home, even the simplest and smallest of decisions make a big impact. A bigger impact than you would think! One of those small things, is the color scheme of your home. Picking and curating the right colors for your home dictates the entire vibe of your home and just the smallest tweaks will change the way it feels.

Picking your main colors

If you aren’t sure where to start, the best place to get started is with your base, main colors. These will be the colors that the majority of your home will be. Not every room needs to be the same colors, but there should still be a cohesive vibe from room to room in your home. So to start, pick out a few of your favorite neutral colors to feature in each of your rooms. Whites, grays, beiges, etc. You can start with paint colors, and then pick oher neutrals in the room you want to include.

Accent colors

The last thing you want is a monotone home. You can stick with neutrals without looking monotone, but you have to be precise and thoughtful when picking which neutral colors to use as accents to your home. You can look at each room with all of their neutrals, and try out a few different accent colors go well in each room. This is where you can use those bright colors you love, as well as muted tones that match. You don’t have to have one accent color per room. The ideal home will be a full palette of complimenting colors. If you’re having a hard time picking out the colors for your home, and aren’t sure which colors compliment your existing color scheme, invite a few friends over to take a look and give their opinions. Take photos with different colors in them to compare against, and send to your friends to see what they think, as well. Sometimes you just need a fresh set of eyes to help you make the final decisions.
